OK, you QLDers and northern NSWelshmen are used to big hailstorms but we West Aussies aren't.

The little town of Salmon Gums is halfway between Norseman and Esperance in WA, just a little bit south of Kalgoorlie.

Today a major hailstorm passed through and devastated a few peoples' livelihoods and crops.

Here are some pictures, hot off the press:

Ouch !! Not to mention what it would have done to any vehicles caught out in the open.

It might be a blessing for some farmers if the crops were insured against hail because with the rain that is falling in the area there is no harvest happening at the moment

They are amazing pictures. I believe it was Salmon Gums that bore the brunt.
My wife was raised there and it is a place of weather extremes all for the wrong reasons!! It makes the news regularly as the coldest, hottest, driest and now wettest!!
Hence we refer to it as "Swaying Palms". I havent been there for about 18years but the Service Station 200kms from the sea used to sell Bertram Boat spares?? and the adjoining tourist shop had the biggest selection of souvenoirs I have ever seen in a railway siding!Strangely it was all very dusty.
Our first house we built in a small cul-de-sac in Perth was surrounded by families all from the same area. Small World.
